www.fasttomato.com is an exciting web-based careers guidance and careers advice system.  When you log on, click on the New User.  The Sixth Forms code has been mailed to your WMSF account.  After you have registered make a note of your username and password!

 Higher Ideas is the most helpful thing for exploring Higher Education subjects and courses that might suit you. It gives an idea of what courses are about, and where you can study them, as well as suggesting similar alternatives.
Try the ideas generator, or see where your A level / BTEC subjects can take you.

Higher Ideas also links to JED– Job Explorer Database – so you can see how your studies can fit in with your career plans. Try the ‘Suits You’ quiz to see what jobs might match your interests and skills. Explore what a job involves, where it can lead and how to get into them.

Register with http://www.accessprofessions.com/ to get details of opportunities that link to your career / uni ideas. These could be open days, masterclasses, summer schools, podcasts, mentoring schemes, work placements and lots more. It’s a win-win: you get to find out if it’s what you want to do, and it looks good on any application.

www.ucas.com is the website with info about all full-time Higher Education courses in the UK. Try a course search to see what’s available. It also has lots of info and advice through the Students tab – to help you through the whole process of choosing, applying, getting in and getting on. You also make your application through the UCAS website.  Register for a UCAS card and join yougo for info, chat and lots of high street discounts!


 eCLIPS is an easy-to-use careers and lifestyle information system that can be accessed wherever you can get online. It describes over 500 jobs and careers and includes lifestyle information relating to education, work and training, relationships, finance etc. http://www.eclips-online.co.uk/ 

Email HEadvisor@wmsf.ac.uk from your WMSF account for the password!
