Planning Research Sessions

Both librarians have experince of teaching a number of higher order research skills including; creating literature searches and literature reviews, critical evalution of sources and author content and sythesis of information.  We can support your classroom practice through;

  booking the ICT suite outside of break and lunchtime for research based sessions with the support of the LRC Team and the hospitality of having technology and hard copy resources close at hand.  These need to be booked at least a week in advance with either Mark or Lucia and the teacher should be present during the session.
  – contributing to schemes of work and lesson planning with a focus on developing students information literacy and wider research skills.  Our team can advise on hard-copy and digital resource collection development and appropriate points at which the LRC team can be booked to train students.
  – creating pathfinder guides (subject information resource guides) posted to Moodle.  We can also scan articles from our collection of journals and add these to Moodle course pages.
  – helping the class to evaluate the success of their research.
  – visiting classrooms to support students one to one or in small groups.
